Cornwall Council is inviting comments on proposals to introduce various Traffic Regulation Orders ( TRO’s ) along Griggs Quay – from the junction with Griggs Hill in Hayle to Lelant. The scheme will include the provision of a segregated shared-use cycle/footway with a one-way through route for other vehicles and changes to the existing speed limits (see drawing EDG0156-SN01 and EDG0156-SN02 for details).
Consultation Summary
Cornwall Council is proposing to provide improved cycle and pedestrian access along Hayle Causeway to Lelant with shared use facilities and Traffic Regulation Orders.
Background:
Pedestrians, on the B3301, between the Causeway and Lelant do not have a footway so have to walk in the carriageway - being vulnerable to other road users. This carriageway is narrow, especially when passing under the railway bridge, which may reduce the confidence of less competent cyclists.Scheme Objectives
To improve road safety for cyclists, pedestrians and other vulnerable road users - linking Hayle and Lelant with cycle routes and other Public Rights of Way. This may encourage the use of the local facilities and a modal shift from car usage.Audience or target group:
