Fresh Coronavirus figures show 21 new cases in Cornwall

There were some minor changes in the parts of the county worst-hit by coronavirus

Cornwall has confirmed 21 new confirmed cases of coronavirus, according to fresh Government figures.

The numbers, which were released this afternoon, show a drop in cases at Lostwithiel & Penwithick, which went from 13 yesterday to 11 today.

Ponsanooth, Mabe Burnthouse & Constantine increased by one case to eight, while Shortlanesend, Chacewater & Carnon Downs stays on eight cases.

Falmouth West & South dropped one to seven.

The figures are as of yesterday (October 18).

The South West as a whole has 28,250 positive cases and a rate of 502.2 per 100,000 people, which remains the lowest in the country.

Nationally, there were 16,982 cases, which is a 32 per cent rise on last Sunday's total of 12,872 and 811 more cases than yesterday.

There were 67 further deaths from COVID-19 - bringing total UK fatalities in the pandemic to 43,646.

Pool and Illogan Highway: 0-2 cases (-1-2 cases)

Penryn: 5 cases (-1 case)

Crowan, Wendron and Stithians: 3 cases (-3 cases)

Shortlanesend, Chacewater and Carnon Downs: 8 cases (no change)

Truro West: 0-2 cases (no change)

St Agnes and Mount Hawke: 0-2 cases (no change)

Altarnun and Stoke Climsland: 0-2 cases (no change)
